Associations: CLARB (Regional Chair & Master Grader), ASLA, LEED AP
Licensure: Oregon, California, Washington, Missouri, Arizona
Role at GreenWorks:
Jim
is Technical Director and a Principal at GreenWorks. He has a total of
over 22 years of professional experience: 11 of those years in parks
and recreation planning, community involvement, design and project
management. Jim’s responsibilities on projects include planning and
land use permits, design and construction documents, and construction
administration. Otherwise, he is just the ‘answer guy’ and a general
foil for others. Jim is adept at public involvement and presentations
before citizen groups, business associations, and governing bodies,
whether friendly or otherwise.
Why I work here:
Because
there is a long list of things for me to do at home that I’m really not
all that crazy about getting done. You know, caulk the tub, repair the
leaky faucet in the garage sink, finish the remodel on the spare
bathroom, transplant that ornamental grass that is getting much bigger
than the book said it would....
How can you compare that with
writing specifications; ‘red-lining’ other people’s drawings; going to
one meeting after another; proof-reading and spell-checking plant
legends; explaining that even though the building didn’t change, moving
it a few feet does affect the site plan; calling to see where that last
billing is....
Then again, there is fishing, golf, good food and drink, reading, daydreaming.....
