As a student at the University of Michigan, Tim’s undergraduate focuses were in both terrestrial ecology and in landscape architecture. As a master’s student in Landscape Architecture and Environmental Planning at the University of California at Berkeley, Tim’s studio experience centered more on the social aspects of public space design. In practice, Tim works with an ethos of bridging these principles of social and ecological function, either in form or function, within urban contexts. Tim has worked with lead design teams on two runner-up international design competition entries in 2005 and 2006 (Orange County Great Park and the Tel Aviv Transit Center), and has helped teach graduate-level classes in AutoCAD and GIS at UC-Berkeley. Tim has also been playing the drums for almost 20 years, having toured the US three times with various jazz/improvisational/rock groups since 2001. He feels fortunate to have music in his life, complementing his passion for design.

I met Jim for an informational interview and instantly knew I’d like working at GreenWorks. I didn’t even have to meet Faha and Abbaté to know these were good guys, serious about high quality design and a genuine commitment to the environment: the kind of people you want to work for. I think GreenWorks is an environment in which I can get back to my roots in ecology and sustainability, and can grow as a designer with these principles at the heart of all of my future design decisions.
