GreenWorks, PC was incorporated in January 1997, building upon the work
of Mike Faha and Associates founded which had been established in 1987
by Mike Faha Even in 1987, Mike Faha and Associates was focused on
providing landscape design services for corporate developments,
private-sector clients, and infrastructure improvements for public
agencies in a sustainable fashion.
In
1989, the Mike Faha and Associates designed its first wetland
mitigation project and its first streetscape improvement project. In
the early 1990's, the practice built upon its wetland mitigation design
experience by expanding into urban stream corridor planning and design;
green solutions for stormwater management; native landscaping for
corporate, infrastructure, public buildings, and institutional
projects; urban natural park and open space planning and design; stream
daylighting; and ultimately, urban watershed master planning. The early
1990's also brought opportunities in urban design projects, including
main street and urban gateway projects, throughout the Pacific
Northwest.
In 1996, Mike Abbaté joined Mike Faha and
co-founded the new corporation of GreenWorks,P.C. Mike came with
seven years of experience working for the US Forest Service, and many
years working for other private sector firms. He added expertise in
interpretive, outdoor recreation and ecotourism facilities. Mike Abbaté
was instrumental in expanding the firm's services to include: planning
and design for interpretive facilities; urban park design; and planning
and design for regional, state and national parks. Mike Abbaté left
GreenWorks in 2007 to become the Planning Director for the City of
Gresham.
In the spring of 2000, Jim Figurski joined GreenWorks
as the firm’s first Technical Director, responsible for quality
assurance and staff training. Jim came to GreenWorks with over 20 years
of professional experience, and previously served at Portland Parks and
Recreation for eleven years as a Landscape Architect and Project
Manager. In January 2002, Jim became a principal at GreenWorks
expanding the firms expertise in Park and Recreation design and
planning, community involvement and construction administration.

national and international levels. GreenWorks is currently involved in
several projects seeking LEED certification. Mike Faha and Jim
